How to care for my portrait...

It is important that any prints larger than 8×10″ are mounted to eliminate the “rippling” effect over time.  8×10″ prints or smaller would also benefit from being mounted, but it is not always necessary.    Prints that  are matted and framed should be displayed under glass.  Prints that are not matted should have a protective coating and should be framed without glass. Either way, remember to keep the print from direct sunlight.  All  prints 11×14″ or larger purchased from A Moment Captured are mounted and receive a protective spray.

When cleaning the glass of a framed piece, do not spray the cleaner directly on the glass — the cleaner could inadvertently run under the edge of the frame, contaminating the mounting material or art; spray your cloth first, and then, wipe the glass clean.

One of the most important things to consider is where you display your portrait.   If I could only give you one tip,  AVOID HANGING ANY PIECE OF ART WHERE IT WILL BE EXPOSED TO DIRECT SUNLIGHT.  Exposure to direct sunlight has most likely damaged more art than any other element of concern.  Please make every effort to avoid having your art in a location which will have it face long periods of exposure to excess light.

Don’t hang your print in areas that experience wide temperature variations, high heat (attics), or high humidity.  Wide temperature variations can cause the framing materials to warp. High temperature and humidity shortens the life of your print. The use of air conditioners, especially humidity-control units, are recommended.

For maximum enjoyment of your fine art print, display your framed piece in an area that allows for people to stand back and take in the entire image.
